The eyepiece position of this straight Vortex Skyline ED spotting scope works well when viewing downward from an elevated platform, such as a deck or patio. The more natural line of sight of the straight eyepiece is favored by many novice users trying to follow birds or wildlife on the move. However, at Birdwatching Dot Com we prefer the angled version for most uses. (It takes about 5 minutes to get used to it.)
