Nice as part of a gift for someone who is just getting started feeding hummingbirds. But really, it is cheaper to make your own, and not a bit difficult. One part white sugar to 4 parts water. Bring the water to a boil. Stir in the sugar until it dissolves. Cool. Keep part of it in the fridge for up to one week. If it gets cloudy, that's mold — toss it out. See our REVIEW. It's a simple, inexpensive feeder, designed for black oil sunflower seeds. Water drains right through it, so the seed stays fresher. The mesh is made of metal, so squirrels don't have much luck with it. Although the manufacturer says it's designed for black oil sunflower seeds, here at Birdwatching Dot Com we fill it with hulled sunflower hearts. The birds just go nuts over them. It's always mobbed with goldfinches, woodpeckers, titmice, and chickadees. In summer, rose-breasted grosbeaks visit it every day.
