Nikon Fieldscope 13-30x50 ED Angled Scope
What a great little scope! (Great only in the sense of good, because its size is really tiny!)

It's sharp. It's bright. It's the new, smallest serious scope we've ever seen — a 50mm scope which comes with a 13-to-30-power variable eyepiece included.

It's almost pocketable — in fact, it would slip into a cargo pocket. (You could actually take it backpacking.)

With fully multi-coated optics and ED glass, and it's 100% waterproof.

Objective lens diameter: 50mm
Weight: 16.6 oz.
Length: 8.1 in.
Close focus: 9.8 ft.
Weatherproofing: Waterproof/Fogproof
Configuration: Angled only (not made in Straight)
Eyepiece: 13-30x
Eye relief:12.9mm
Field of view at 1000 yards: 157.5 ft.

We saw this scope at the Midwest Birding Symposium in the fall of 2007, and we really wanted to take it home with us. Click the "more details" link to see Diane's picture of it with a person, to give a sense of its compact size.

We've since bought one for ourselves at Birdwatching Dot Com. Diane's going to take it with her to climb a volcano and look for the respendent quetzal in Guatemala!
